Akron Coach Jimmy Mashburn, 32, Tragically Loses Life in Car Accident; Grieving Wife Grace Left Behind

James “Jimmy” Mashburn, an intervention specialist at Stow-Munroe Falls High School, passed away tragically in a car accident on January 21, 2025, and is survived by his wife Grace Mashburn.

Jimmy Mashburn, who was born in Canton, Ohio, on March 25, 1992, was a coach at Green High School.

Following his graduation from Coventry High School in 2006–2010, Jimmy Mashburn attended Stark State College for Special Education and Teaching from 2013–2014.

Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Special Education and Teaching from the University of Akron in 2018.

In May 2018, he worked as a moderate intervention specialist at Stow-Munroe Falls High School, putting his expertise and enthusiasm for special education into practice.

Despite spending three years with Green Locals Schools, he returned to Stow-Muroe in August 2022.

Having a profound impact on the lives of numerous coworkers, students, and parents, Jimmy Mashburn was a well-liked figure in both his community and classroom.

Jimmy Mashburn Lost His Life on Tuesday in a Car Accident

Unfortunately, it was revealed that Jimmy Mashburn had passed away in a horrific car accident on January 21, 2025.

Furthermore, the news of Jimmy’s passing spread like wildfire, and his loved ones paid tribute to him in countless posts.

His friends and family shared the heartbreaking news while authorities continued investigating the specifics of the vehicle collision.

Additionally, Melissa Smith, the vice president of Valor Clinical Partners, posted that anyone is welcome to attend their Wednesday night gathering to support Jimmy at Codex Brewing.

In describing Jimmy and remembering him, she wrote,

As many of you know we lost an amazing person last night. Jimmy Mashburn He was an amazing person who brought light to everyone. Everyone at the winery loved Jimmy. Jimmy Mashburn Is Survived by His Wife Grace, and They Were Married on August 23, 2023

Jimmy Mashburn married Grace, his longtime girlfriend, whom he had dated since 2015.

Additionally, Jimmy proposed to Grace on June 1, 2022, and they married on August 23, 2023, a day Grace describes as the best of her life.

After Jimmy’s passing, she shared a photo of their marriage on Facebook with the words “My heart.”

Grace attended The University of Akron as well, and it is probable that they met and fell in love there.

Furthermore, she worked as a pharmacy technician at Green Compounding Pharmacy.

She works at Akron JATC as an electrical apprentice and previously led the volunteer center at Akron-Canton Food Bank.
