Eugene Wilson Brees II and Mina Brees, both lawyers, were the parents of Drew Brees when he was born in Dallas, Texas.
Born on January 15, 1979, Drew Brees is an American who spent 20 seasons as a professional football quarterback in the National Football League (NFL).
Brees, who spent the majority of his career with the New Orleans Saints, holds the second-highest career passing yards, career touchdown passes, career pass completions, and career completion percentage records.
In addition, Brees has 54 games with a touchdown pass in a row, surpassing the 52-year record held by Johnny Unitas. Many people consider him to be among the best quarterbacks of all time.
While playing football for the Purdue Boilermakers in college, Brees set the Big Ten Conference’s records for yards, attempts, and completions.
The San Diego Chargers did not select him until the second round of the 2001 NFL draft because of concerns about his height and arm strength.
Before having a breakthrough season in 2004, which earned him a Pro Bowl and Comeback Player of the Year award, Brees had a rough start.
After being re-signed to a one-year deal, Brees was able to leave the Chargers in free agency after suffering a potentially career-ending injury the following season.
From 2006 to 2020, Brees guided the Saints to three NFC Championship Game appearances, nine playoff appearances, nine playoff victories, and seven division titles.
Furthermore, he won the MVP award in Super Bowl XLIV, the team’s first championship, and four consecutive from 2017 to 2020.
Recently, on January 15, Brees celebrated his 46th birthday. In remembrance of the legend, NFL fans and friends sent him birthday wishes.
Happy 46th birthday, Drew Brees!

Both of Drew Brees’ Parents Practiced Law, but in 2009, His Mother, Mina Brees Passed Away Tragically
Born in Dallas, Texas, Drew Brees was the son of attorneys Eugene Wilson Brees II and Mina Brees.
Additionally, Drew Brees’ parents fostered a loving home for him and consistently encouraged him to pursue his dreams.
His father, Eugene Wilson Brees II, is a highly regarded lawyer representing plaintiffs in cases involving personal injury and medical malpractice.
Eugene Brees II attended and graduated from The University of Texas School of Law in 1976. He serves the local community in Austin, Texas.
He joined the legal profession in 1976 and earned the title of Super Lawyer from 2003 to 2024.
In addition to being a well-known lawyer in Austin, Texas, Drew Brees’ mother, Mina Brees, had been active in politics and had run unsuccessfully for a Texas appeals court seat in 2006.
But her relationship with Drew was complicated, significantly as he grew older, and Mina and Drew had been at odds for several years before her death.
According to reports, Mina’s use of Drew’s name in a marketing campaign for her legal practice without his consent was the source of the conflict.
Their relationship became even more strained after Drew filed a lawsuit to have his name taken off.
Despite these difficulties, Drew stated in interviews that just before her death, their relationship had started to get better.
Mina Brees passed away in a small Colorado town on August 7, 2009, at the age of 59.
Furthermore, she passed from an overdose of prescription drugs, which authorities determined to be suicide.
Many questions remained about the circumstances surrounding her death, and Drew expressed his sorrow over the loss.
Even though they had had a challenging relationship, he admitted that he still loved his mother very much.
