Florida State’s New Defensive Coordinator, Tony White, Lives Away From All the Attention With His Wife and Kids

Tony White and his wife, Angela, have two children, a son and a girl, and they enjoy a happy life together. Furthermore, his recent appointment as Florida State Seminoles’ defensive coordinator has garnered him a lot of notoriety.

Tony White is a football coach and former linebacker currently serving as the defensive coordinator.

Before becoming a coach, he spent three seasons playing in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Ottawa Renegades.

Following a season as head coach of Los Angeles’ St. Genevieve High School, White became a graduate assistant for football.

After that, Tony worked as a cornerbacks coach at San Diego State before moving to Arizona State. Later on, he served as Syracuse’s defensive coordinator before moving to Nebraska.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that White had left his previous team and was employed as the defensive coordinator for Florida State.

With Tony White of Nebraska signing a three-year deal, Florida State has completed filling its coordinator vacancies.

After serving as Nebraska’s defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for two seasons, White joins Florida State.

In his debut season, he immediately influenced the Huskers, leading the team to its best defensive season since joining the Big Ten over ten years prior.

White was born in Key West, Florida, to an American father and a Korean mother.

His father was stationed in Korea while serving in the US military when his parents initially became close.

His mother primarily raised him in New York City, and then he moved to El Paso, Texas, where he lived with his father for a year.

After his father transferred to San Antonio, he moved in with his best friend’s family.

Tony White lives in Florida with his wife Angela, son Anthony III, and daughter Ava. However, White has never publicly discussed his personal life or family and keeps them out of the spotlight.

White was the head coach at St. Genevieve High School in Los Angeles for one season before joining UCLA.

In 2008, he joined Rocky Long, his former defensive coordinator from his playing days at UCLA, as the linebackers coach at New Mexico.

Weeks after the team appointed Long as defensive coordinator, San Diego State hired White as its cornerbacks coach on January 27, 2009.

After nine years, White left San Diego to take a position as Arizona State’s cornerbacks coach and coordinator.

White served as the Sun Devils’ defensive play-caller, and the team elevated him to defensive coordinator.

After working with Dino Babers as a graduate assistant at UCLA, White was appointed defensive coordinator at Syracuse on February 7, 2020.

On December 8, 2022, they appointed White as the defensive coordinator at Nebraska, where he stayed for two seasons.

After finishing 13th in 2023, they rank 20th nationally in points allowed this season.
