A year after her mother’s demise, on January 21, 2025, Amani Miles, the head football equipment manager for the Bowie State Bulldogs, tragically passed away.
Amani Miles was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, on January 3, 2002, and attended Bowie State University as a student.
Additionally, from 2020 to 2024, she studied business administration with a marketing concentration at Bowie State University, where she served as the Head Football Equipment Manager.
Also, she was an active member of the Bowie State Circle K International and the Bowie State Cab Street Team, among other student organizations at the university.
However, the young and ambitious manager tragically passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 23.
Additionally, the cause of the death has not yet been disclosed. The Bowie State Bulldogs announced the news and wrote,
We are deeply saddened to share the loss of our beloved @bowiestfootball student support staff, Amani Miles.
Amani’s presence was a source of inspiration and strength to us all. 🕊️
We want to extend our deepest condolences to her family and friends. 🙏
Additionally, Bowie State Athletics is deeply saddened by the loss of Miles, a beloved member of the student support staff.
According to friends, Amani’s presence inspired and encouraged those around her.
Amani Miles Was Raised by Her Mother And Stepfather; Regrettably, Her Mother Passed Away Last Year!
Amani Miles was born in Maryland to parents Zakiyyah Blackwood and an unnamed father.
But when Amani Miles was young, her parents divorced, and her mother later got married again.
Elton Scott, a housekeeping employee at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, was Zakiyyah’s new husband in 2016.
Emi, Amani, and Diala, her three daughters, all attended the wedding to show their support for their mother.
Additionally, Amani was the middle child; her siblings were Diala Miles, a younger sister, and Emoni, an older sister.
She had a good relationship with her stepfather, Elton Scott, who was proud of her and always encouraged her.
Unfortunately, Amani’s mother, Zakiyyah Blackwood, passed away on September 30, 2023, at the age of 47.
“We will celebrate you Mommy” was Amani Miles’s caption when she shared the news of Zakiyyah’s funeral on October 6, 2023.
Before she passed away, Zakiyyah Blackwood was admitted to the hospital due to an illness.
Her funeral services were conducted at Ronald Taylor II Funeral Home, 1722 N. Capitol St. NW, Washington, D.C.
