Former Raiders Head Coach Josh McDaniels Returns To Patriots As Offensive Coordinator After 2023 Mid-Season Dismissal!

The NFL coach, Josh McDaniels, returns to the New England Patriots as an offensive coordinator in 2025.

The Patriots organization made the move official on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. He will work under a new head coach, Mike Vrabel.

Besides the Patriots, he has served as an HC of the Denver Broncos from 2009 to 2010.

Josh McDaniels then worked for the St. Louis Rams as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. However, it was just for a season before his move to the Patriots.

Josh McDaniels Landing His New OC Role Adds On To His 18-Season Long Partnership With New England Patriots!

The recent move of long-time partner Josh McDaniels‘ return to the New England Patriots has buzzed the NFL.

His return to the Patriots for a third stint might be pivotal as the team looks to fortify its offense.

After challenging seasons, having failed in converting third downs and managing turnovers, the team hired Josh.

His experience with the teams in the NFL can bring back the offensive stability to the team. If his game plan works, the team will return with a bang.

Despite his disappointing records in the last few seasons, the Patriots have trusted him under a new HC.

Josh McDaniels has a storied past with the team and was part of the coaching staff for 18 seasons.

During his tenure, he helped the Patriots as a coordinator to secure six Super Bowl victories.

Though the Patriots new OC spent most of his career with them, he had brief stints with other NFL teams.

Josh worked as a senior graduate assistant under Nick Saban. His official coaching journey began in 2001 with the New England Patriots.

He served the Patriots in numerous positions and decided to leave them in 2008 to lead the Denver Broncos.

Though he had an exceptional 6-0 start as an HC, the season ended with a disappointing 8-8 record.

Josh McDaniels’ beginning records in the next season, led him to his first dismissal from a team.

After the firing, he joined the St. Louis Rams as their OC and QB coach in 2011. Then he again returned to the Patriots in 2012.

In his second stint, he won three more Super Bowl titles. In 2022, McDaniels took on the HC position of the Raiders but failed.

His coaching career seemed to have stuck after 2022-2023 with the Raiders.

Due to his bad records, the Las Vegas Raiders fired him, with the NFLPA rating him the lowest-rated head coach in 2024.

However, Josh has returned to coaching after the Raiders dismissed him mid-season in 2023.

The former Broncos HC used his break to engage and study his offensive strategies. He capitalized on his time in 2024 wisely to evolve as a coach.
