MLB Hall of Famer Jeff Torborg Passed Away at the Age of 83, Leaving Behind His Devoted Wife Suzie and Their Three Kids

Jeff Torborg, who fought Parkinson’s disease in recent years, passed away on Sunday at the age of 83, and his wife, children, and grandchildren survived him.

Jeff Torborg was an American professional baseball manager and catcher born on November 26, 1941.

From 1964 to 1973, he was a member of the California Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Furthermore, he was the manager of the Florida Marlins, New York Mets, Montreal Expos, Cleveland Indians, and Chicago White Sox.

Sadly, news broke Sunday that former MLB great Jeff Torborg had passed away that morning in Westfield, New Jersey.

Furthermore, Torborg was 83 years old, and although his cause of death was not immediately disclosed, he had fought Parkinson’s disease in recent years.

Several teams posted condolences on social media, including the Miami Marlins, Cleveland Guardians, and Chicago White Sox.

Jeff Torborg Was Married to His Wife, Suzie, for Sixty-Two Years Prior to His Death!

On June 6, 1963, Jeff Torborg married Suzie Barber Torborg, and the two celebrated their nearly 62-year marriage before his passing on January 19, 2025.

Living a quiet life, Suzie Torborg is rarely spotted in public and was only ever seen cooperating at events with her husband. Jeff and Suzie are parents to three kids: Doug, Greg, and Dale.

Furthermore, Torborg and his family lived in a house in Mountainside, New Jersey, for over 25 years.

Suzie, Jeff’s constant companion, took extra care of him after the doctors diagnosed him with Parkinson’s disease.

In the same way, Suzie was always by his side at events, and people also spotted them in Union County.

Furthermore, the Freeholders also gave him a resolution that honored him and dedicated the Jeff Torborg Youth Baseball Field in his honor.

Jeff Torborg’s Sons Followed in His Footsteps but Eventually Switched to Other Fields!

Dale Torborg, one of their sons, began a career in professional wrestling after marrying Christi Wolf, a bodybuilder and former professional wrestler.

He played college baseball for the Northwestern Wildcats while attending Northwestern University, and he went on to play professional baseball after graduating.

Furthermore, he started playing baseball in 1994 with the Appalachian League’s Kingsport Mets, but according to Torborg, he sustained two injuries that ended his career.

Similarly, Jeff’s other son, Greg, is a lawyer with a focus on business dealings and sports law.

Furthermore, he handles the purchase and sale of professional sports teams and represents Major League Baseball clubs.

After the New York Yankees chose him in the 1986 Amateur Draft, Greg played baseball at Columbia University after attending Duke University on a baseball scholarship.

Although none of Jeff’s sons fully committed to playing baseball, they all pursued and participated in the sport at some point during their careers.

In addition, Jeff had two great-grandchildren, Lane and Lee; four grandchildren, Alexis, Jeffrey, Kelly, and Sierra; and daughters-in-law, Christi and Karen.
